Ballyfacey National School
Ballyfacey N.S. is a co-educational primary school in the parish of Glenmore in the south-east corner of Co. Kilkenny. The school is under the Roman Catholic Patronage of the Diocese of Ossory. We serve Ballyfacey and the surrounding areas.
School History
The first school in the catchment area was opened in 1868. The present building was opened on this site in 1958 as a two mainstream classroom structure. On the 8thSeptember 2006 an extension to the school was opened. This consisted of an additional classroom and a multi-purpose room which serves as the staffroom/resource/learning support room.
The school became a three mainstream classroom teacher school in the academic year 2014/2015 and thanks to sustained growth it has remained the same since then.
We are also very lucky that as part of our staff we have a full time S.E.T teacher (Special Education teacher), which means that there are four permanent teachers on site daily.
In the school year 2018-19, we applied for a school extension under the Additional Accommodation Scheme. Our application was successful. Prior to the commencement of the school year 2021-22 we had the welcome addition of a new mainstream classroom, new Support Teacher room, modification of two smaller classrooms into one and also additional toilet facilities. Please see our gallery page for pictures of our new facilities.
