6th Class Farewell
As we draw to the end of another school year we would like to wish the 6th class pupils who are leaving us after eight years to head on the their next chapter in Secondary School the very best of luck. You are a credit to your parents and the school, you really were a fantastic bunch and you will be missed by us all here in Ballyfacey N.S. So all is left to say is ” You’re off to great places, Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, So ……get on your way” Dr. Seuss

We built some bridges in the senior room this explored the area of STEM and Art, and I think you’ll agree they look amazing.
World Book Day brought some very interesting characters to school. On the day we Noni and the Great Chawwwlit Adventure, Nina Carberry, Where is Wally and Wanda!!, Mosalah, Messi, Pokeman, Stephaine Edgley, I Houdini, Tom Pemberton, Isadora Moon, Henery Shefflin, Gangsta Granny…. a great day was had by all
We made prayer rocks as a reminder of the importance of daily prayer to Holy God.
The 5th and 6th Class recently taught each other their own mini-lessons about key information regarding taking care of our bodies in relation to the following topics:
- Bacteria
- Viruses
- Vaccinations
- How our bodies fight off illnesses
- What we can do to help ourselves when it comes to illness prevention.
STEM work where the pupils created mazes using careful planning with regard to design and materials!
We were also busy doing some St Patrick Themed Art.
Students from our senior room dressed up as some of the following characters for World Book Day 2022, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Gangsta Granny, Morrigan Crow, Judy Moody, Hermione Granger, Lady Mary & we even had an Oompa Loompa.
In honour of St.Brigid we made some St Brigid’s Crosses

Our General Election
STEM Building a Bridge.
Official opening of the Rose Kennedy Fitzgerald Bridge
The children from 5th and 6th class were lucky enough to have been invited as special guests of the Wexford and Kilkenny County Councils to the official opening of the Rose Kennedy Fitzgerald Bridge on Wednesday 29th January 2020. This was a great experience to be part of, getting to see the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar up close. We also got the opportunity to walk across the bridge. It will great for children to be able to say in years to come that they were there the day the bridge opened!
Our Shadow Puppet Show!
The 5th and 6th Class pupils put on a series of short shadow puppet plays for the children in the Junior Room. The children composed their scripts themselves in small groups of two/ three. Each story had a simple moral – a life lesson that the Infants and 1st Class could learn from. These moral lessons were demonstrated through the characters in each story presented.

Christmas Art 2019
Some samples of the lovely Christmas wreaths and carol singer decorations created by the 5th and 6th Class children as part of their art lessons in December.
November Art
5th and 6th Class made beautiful fruit bowls out of lollipop sticks and PVA glue. These were then painted in the colours of each child’s choice!
Camouflage Creatures!!
5th and 6th carried out great project work in the last few weeks with a case study of creatures that adapt to their natural habitats and use camouflage to blend in with their surroundings. This STEM activity linked our work in Science, English and Art nicely together!
Michael Moylan Visit!
Michael Moylan had a great visit in all classrooms on Thursday the 3rd of October. He gave a great interactive lesson to the children on changes in weapons and tools over time from the Ancient Celts right up to Norman times.
